Rise of The Vending Machines

03_nonstopmarket
As technology advances and the economy contracts, vending machines will have an increased presence in our daily lives. We now use them without even realising we're using them - from cashpoints to train ticket vendors to the humble water cooler. The need for convenience in modern life, coupled with the need to cut labour costs continues to drive vending machine technology. As long as they keep vending better quality, better tasting, more ecological-efficient products then logic would suggest that the future will be vended. Will the world comes to resemble the vending machine-packed streets of Japan? Maybe not quite that much, but the folks at Manvend.com are predicting a steady increase in vending machines over the next couple of years. Get in touch to learn more.

Clicking on a product lets the shopper rotate the bottle to see the label. The top and bottom sections of the screen are used for running Coke commercials. “The new machines incorporate sight, sound and motion video to take the vending experience from transaction to true interaction,” Anthony Phillips, global brand manager at Coca-Cola said in a release. “We wanted the machines to be eye-catching in a way that would turn heads and command attention.” Makers hope to run mobile phone downloads in the form of music files, ringtones and wallpaper, along with cashless payment and more. Keeping cold drinks chilled 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, uses a lot of energy. But now on off-hours or holidays when workers aren't around, vending machines can be automatically powered down. It's all thanks to a new technology that automatically senses when customers walk into the room. This energy-conserving invention saves money, reduces energy and lowers greenhouse gases. The effect: a reduction in energy use of about $225 a year per machine.
