Samsung set to revolutionise the Vending Machine

SamsungKorean electronics manufacturer Samsung has teamed up with U.S. food giant Kraft to build a new breed of 21st-century vending machines. The snack machines use a specially built 46-inch LCD panel, which functions as a giant touchscreen, bringing up a host of nutritional information on the food inside.

For Kraft, the Internet-connected machines can also be used to sell additional products to hungry customers. "It has been 30 years since anything technological has happened within the snack vending world," said Michael Miller, senior category business director at Kraft Foods. "We can deliver interactive video advertising, we can deliver promotions [that] we can tailor to the time of day." ...MORE

GOLD - Coming to a vending machine near you

PF-vending-gold_1426953cRemember that gold vending machine we reported on? Well, they are coming to the UK, according to The Telegraph.

"Holidaymakers passing through Britain's airports could soon have the chance to buy a block of gold from a vending machine, rather than a chocolate bar or a fizzy drink. A German-based company, TG Gold-Super-Markt, has just installed a sophisticated gold vending machine at Frankfurt airport and has plans to roll out 500 of the machines in airports and railway stations in Europe, including Britain" ...MORE

Only The Fittest Will Thrive

Johnnyavs Vending machine businesses that embrace change are booming despite the economy, says Manchester Vending director John Broderick.

"I see the credit crunch as a great opportunity for vending companies who know what they're doing," says Mr Broderick as he walks through his company's spotless new premises.

"I see it not as a recession but as a market correction where the old-fashioned companies who don't change with the times will die out like the dinosaurs. The forward-thinking companies, the companies who evolve new ways of doing business, those companies will rule the earth. It's simply Survival of the Fittest. And Manchester Vending are in pretty good shape."

Golf Day 2009

Golfclassic
We started Summer 2009 with smiles all round at our annual Golf Day Gala. During the day, the sun shone and the greens were great. And after all the golf buggies were parked and the clubs put away, we decorated the opulent clubhouse in a big-top circus theme with stilt-walkers, jugglers, show girls, performers and singers.

The highlight of the evening came when we launched the Broderick Trust, pledging £20,000 to the fund. We wanted to appoint the people we most admire in business as trustees of the trust, so we nominated Manchester Airport's Andrew Cornish and Nestle's Wayne Wanklyn. We also gave recognition to our Special Friends in Vending, namely Richard Brinsley from Westomatic and Gary Unsworth from Aimia Foods.

Out Of Order! For Good!

Out_of_order_close2We at Manchester Vending have previously expressed our intention to clean up the vending industry by banning cigarette machines in the UK. And now it seems the British Medical Association are also backing the campaign, as reported in The Telegraph today.

The BME are urging MPs to support proposals in the Health Bill which is debated in the House of Commons for the first time today. The move comes after aYouGov poll found that 65 per cent of Brits supported a complete ban on cigarette vending machines.
