Groundworks Award!

Groundwork  I’m very pleased to announce that today Manchester Vending Services received a Silver Award from Groundworks for our environmental standards.  The evidence required to demonstrate our standards was largely achieved by Ed who has pulled together some excellent statistics, updated and improved our current reporting spreadsheets and introduced some new ones...

Some of the initiatives that have helped us to achieve this Award:

-          Providing evidence of recycling, waste and energy statistics

-          Work in the community on environmental initiatives – our time spent with Caterpilla

-          Improving our CO2 emissions by carrying out the driver efficiency training earlier this year

-          Having in place a plan to replace light bulbs in the premises with lower energy consumption bulbs

-          Having a Carbon Footprint Report

-          Having a Green Travel Plan (the government sponsored bike purchasing scheme)

Groundworks are confident that we can achieve the gold standard within a few months and Ed is putting together a plan to achieve this standard.

Other environmental initiatives that we have in progress:

 - carrying out in-house ISO14001/9001 auditor training as we are behind on auditing – again!  This is planned for 27th September 2010

- the review of some rather old procedures

- reviewing the methods that we use for cardboard and paper recycling

Well done to Ed for all his hard work!

Regards,

Michelle
