RUBICON takes off at Manchester Airport

Sales of Rubicon, the UK’s No.1 exotic juice drink*1, are flying at Manchester Airport thanks to an innovative new drinks merchandiser, the Broderick Touch - the first of its kind in the UK.

Broderick’s Touch, from Manchester Vending brings a whole new dimension to vending thanks to a fully integrated, 19-inch high definition, interactive touch screen menu with high resolution graphics and fully integrated speakers.  The machine has the primary function of providing hot beverages but also has a number of other unique features including the ability to screen brand’s TV adverts.

Manchester Vending stocks the new Rubicon Stills range in 168 of their glass fronted merchandisers in Manchester Airport and has positioned 32 of the Broderick’s Touch machines alongside with the Rubicon TV advert playing on the screens.

John Broderick, Managing Director of Manchester Vending says: “Sales of the new Rubicon Stills range have surpassed all expectations since we started selling them at the end of May.  We already stocked the Rubicon carbonates range so we expected sales to be good but the volume going through Manchester Airport is unexpected and fantastic!

“All of our machines are positioned in areas with a high dwell time, such as near check in desks or at baggage claim, and we can pre-programme adverts to appear at times of high footfall by checking flight arrival and departure times.  The Rubicon advert will be seen 524,760 times during the airport’s summer season.”

Adrian Troy, Head of Marketing at AG Barr comments: “The screening of the TV advert on the new Broderick’s Touch machines is an innovative idea which is already showing positive results.  We’re looking forward to watching Rubicon sales grow even further.”

Troy adds: “Rubicon is the number one soft drink amongst Asian and African/Caribbean consumers*2 and its unique, exotic flavours are rapidly growing in popularity with the mainstream British market.”

Rubicon recently launched the range of three 500ml still products aimed at ‘on the go’ consumption. Previously only available in one litre and 288ml cartons, the launch of Rubicon Mango and Guava and Sun Exotic Tropical in PET bottles provides consumers with even more occasions to enjoy these great tasting, authentic products.

The advert being shown at Manchester Airport is part of a £6 million campaign for Rubicon that includes national TV advertising, national sampling and high profile sponsorships of Cricket Players Graeme ‘Swanny’ Swann (England’s current world number 1 ranked spin bowler) and Muttiah ‘Murali’ Muralitharan (Sri Lankan legend, holder of world records for both test and one day wickets).

John concludes: “The new machines have a potential audience of millions of travellers.  The attention grabbing screens are allowing brands to promote their products at point of purchase which is already proving to be successful.”

World's Biggest Coffee Morning

McmillanmugWe're taking part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan, the cancer research charity. We're inviting you to join us at our offices in Manchester as well as at the Broderick's coffee house at Manchester Airport on Friday 25 September. We'll be pouring coffee, brewing tea, munching freshly baked cakes, and having a chat. Most importantly, we'll be making a donation to Macmillan. We hope you can join us!

Airport deal tastes sweet

WYTHENSHAWE-based Manchester Vending Services is celebrating an award as best operator for its installation of 105 machines at Manchester Airport in December and January.

The machines have doubled turnover in drinks and snacks and doubled the workforce maintaining them to eight, says managing director John Broderick. In the recent Auto Vending Innovation Awards, his company's success was recognised with a trophy, presented at a ceremony in London.
